A Big Bite of the Big Apple
Posted by on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 11:27 am

I had a great weekend in the city with Becky, Shannon and Adrienne. (Vicki’s plans changed at the last minute, so she, unfortunately, couldn’t join us.) We did a remarkable amount in three days: visited Times Square, Battery Park, Wall Street, Ground Zero, Little Italy, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, F.A.O. Schwartz, Central Park, and more; saw the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; had a fantastic time with several hundred thousand of our closest friends at the gay-pride parade; ate at several wonderful restaurants, including the famous Carnegie Deli and a lovely Restaurant Row establishment called Marlowe’s (with a lovely waitress called Kate); and, back at the apartment, finished a bottle of Malibu rum and nearly finished bottles of Absolut vodka and peach schnapps. A good time was had by all (especially Shannon, who was practically bouncing up and down all weekend, so excited was she to be visiting New York for the first time).

Unfortunately, I can’t post any of my digital pictures yet, because they’re stored on the hard drive of my temperamental laptop, which has crashed again and thus rendered the photos inaccessible for the moment. (I just took the computer back to the repair shop in Queens that “fixed” it less than two weeks ago, so we shall see where that leads.) I have some great photos, though, so I’ll post them as soon as I can.

I sent you an email from my friend who was part of a group of people that submitted a proposal for the WTC memorial, but it turns out that whole process was supposed to be confidential, so she promptly removed everything from her website. Oops! hehehe
