July breaks website traffic record
Posted by on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 11:59 am

July was the busiest month yet for “My World,” as this website recorded 784 unique hits, 46 more than June’s 738 hits and 68 more than May’s 716 hits.

The record-breaking hit, number 739, occurred on Monday, July 29 at 3:19 AM Eastern time, when someone at USC spent 4 minutes and 5 seconds looking at photos from my Christmas ceremonies in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

The busiest day of the month was Thursday, July 11, when 59 unique hits were recorded after I sent out a mass e-mail early in the morning telling my friends about a bunch of updates and changes on the website. Curiously, the second-busiest day of the month was the day before that, July 10, when 55 visitors surfed by even though there was no identifiable reason for a traffic spike that day.

The slowest day of the month was last Sunday, when only 7 unique hits were recorded. (Weekends are usually less busy than weekdays.) The monthlong average was 25.3 hits per day.
