The Sunset Limited hits an abandoned truck!

The first thing I noticed when I woke up was that the train had stopped. The second thing was the rising moon.

The third thing I noticed was the flashing lights of the emergency vehicles, a little ways ahead along the tracks. An ambulance and several firetrucks and police cars would drive by.

About 10 minutes before the train finally started moving again, the sun lights up these fields on the north side of the track, away from the road.

Here's the truck we hit, a red Toyota pick-up. We passed it along the track after it was pried loose from the front of the train.

After showing "0.0 mph" as our speed all morning, my GPS receiver shows that we are indeed moving again.
