Blog History

I have been blogging, in one form or another, since April 2002, when I announced my intention to use this newfangled “blog” technology as the latest and greatest outlet for publishing in my “traditional narcissistic style, babbling about inconsequential details of my life, as if anyone really cares.”

A lot has changed since then — I’ve received national attention and acclaim for my blogging; my daily traffic has, at times, reached well into the thousands; I’ve acquired a devoted regular audience of people I’ve never met; and my blogs have opened up all sorts of real-world opportunities that I never otherwise would have had — but my love of “babbling about inconsequential details of my life” hasn’t changed one iota. :)

And so, in that spirit, I’ve decided to include a detailed narrative of my personal blogging history here on this site. It’s not nearly finished yet, so the pages aren’t yet available for viewing — but eventually, it will be split into five parts, each on its own page:

• The early years (1999-2003)
• The Irish Trojan (2004-2008)
• Ash Blog Durbatulûk (6/08 – 11/08)
• Interbloggum (11/08 – 6/09), referring to the period between blogs
• Present day, which will likely be updated periodically as new “history” unfolds

I’m also starting to put together a page collecting some of the articles, posts and multimedia clips about me and my blog(s) from newspapers, magazines, prominent websites, TV and radio shows, and even a movie. I’m calling it “My blogs in the media,” but you can call it “Brendan’s Ego Central,” if you like. :) It’s very much a work-in-progress right now, with only a few links and clips, but stay tuned.
