By Brendan Loy

I headed down to the Denver "Marade" for lunch. Lots of people honoring Dr. King. Also some miscellaneous protest causes, like these "Yes, Tunisia Can" folks. Love it. More pics at www.twitter.com/brendanloy.

What the heck is a “marade”? Is that like a charade of a parade put on by morons — hence, a “marade”?

  2. David K. Says:

I thought marade was what you soaked meat in before cooking it.

    LOL @ AML!

Technically it’s a “March & Parade,” hence “Marade.” However I believe that’s a reverse-engineered linguistic justification for calling it a “Marade” in reference to “Martin Luther King.”

    ROTF @ #3 …

I now understand much better where our resident davidkian gets his understanding of the words in the english language with which he is *SO* creative …

    Ignoring the troll.

@Brendan = Marade is about the dumbest word i’ve heard in a looooong time. The city of Denver should be ashamed of themselves, and not just for the Broncos this time.

  7. Brendan Loy Says:

I’m not sure if it’s a Denver invention. Admittedly, when you Google “Marade,” most of the resulting links are Denver-related, but that may be because ours is the largest (which it is); not sure if it was the first. And hey, here’s one from Utah! So, uh, I blame the Mormons. :)

  8. Brendan Loy Says:

P.S. How dare you suggest we be ashamed of the Broncos… that would mean being ashamed of Tim Tebow, who is Jesus. So in short, you’re telling us to be ashamed of Jesus. #catholicPANIC :)

  9. David K. Says:

Pff, Tim Tebow isn’t Jesus, I mean look at him, no beard at all! (he does bear a strong resemblence to a young Brendan Fraser though…)

No, everyone knows that Jesus’ real NFL alter-ego is Charlie Whitehurst, duh:
