By Brendan Loy DU

As I explained yesterday, I belatedly discovered (with considerable embarrassment) that the original name for my University of Denver men’s basketball blog, “The Pioneer Post,” was already taken by another, stats-based blog about DU hoops. The folks who run that site gave me permission to keep using the name, but upon consideration, I decided to change it anyway, to avoid any potential confusion down the road. Many thanks to David K. for the name suggestion: “Pioneer Pulse.”

I’ve updated the logo, the sidebars, etc. If you notice anywhere that the old name is lingering, its vestiges still haunting the site, please let me know. :)

And by the way, yes, I’ve checked, and I can’t find any other DU-related sites called “Pioneer Pulse” on the Interwebs. At one time, the athletic department published a quarterly newsletter, basically for internal purposes I think, called “Pioneer Pulse,” but it was discontinued some time ago, and basketball SID Mike Kennedy told me he can’t imagine anyone having a problem with me using the name. So, Pioneer Pulse it is.

Sorry for the confusion, everyone. Hopefully this name sticks! :)

I think you should change the font and style of to approximate something more modern and akin to a medical diagnostic line — I’m thinking “pioneer” as in cutting edge vs. “pioneer” as in covered wagons heading west.

*change the font and style of the title

Not a bad idea, but I really don’t have the graphic design skills for anything more than simple text… and, at this point, I don’t want to change the logo again. Maybe next season. :)
