Doug Mataconis, a 41-year-old attorney in Bristow, Virginia, won the 5th annual Living Room Times Bowl Pick ‘em Contest tonight by correctly picking the BCS champion, Alabama.
Mataconis, pictured at right in his Facebook and Twitter profile photo, is an alumnus of Rutgers and George Mason, a blogger at Below the Beltway and The Liberty Papers, and a prolific tweeter. He finishes the 2009-2010 bowl season with a prediction record of 22-12.
David K., who had been tied with Mataconis heading into the title game, incorrectly picked Texas, and consequently fell into a second-place tie with Esteban Coca, Jon Schuman, Charles Fenwick, Brandon Allen, and T. Delli Santi at 21-13.
Kevin Curran, Mike Marchand and Neil Waechter finished tied at 20-14, rounding out the Top 10. Another ten contestants finished tied at 19-15. Complete standings here.
P.S. By the way, my 2-year-old daughter, who had the early lead in the contest, finished 17-17, tied for 29th place out of 64. That’s still better than me (15-19) or Becky (14-20). Heh.
