What can Brown do for you?

Today’s Boston Herald looks a bit like one of those infinite-loop things, where you videotape a TV screen showing… your live video of the TV screen. If only the Scott Brown in the “HE DID IT!” Herald was holding up a copy of the previous day’s Herald.

Seriously, someone needs to get a photo of Scott Brown holding up today’s Herald, and then photoshop it as the front page of tomorrow’s Herald, with the headline “OMG YAY!”

Meanwhile, Drudge has been leading with this for the last 12 hours or so:

drudge-presidentbrown

Yes: America’s Naked President! Heh.

(And the Right says the Left hero-worships Obama? Oy.)

[UPDATE: In comments, Joe Mama suggests that Drudge’s headline may be intended as swipe at Obama — “a telegenic former state senator who ran for POTUS before finishing his first term in the Senate” — rather than as a serious Brown-for-President suggestion. He may well be right.]

Also… I couldn’t resist creating this:

EPIC FAIL

[UPDATE: Sully beat me to it.]

Anyway, more newspaper front pages after the jump, via the Newseum.

The Boston Globe‘s headline is a bit unimaginative and understated:

The Herald-News gets into the spirit a bit more. EPIC WIN!!!

The Cape Cod Times gets alliterative:

The Enterprise calls it a “sharp right turn” — and manages to get Brown’s available daughter, ex-American Idol contestant Ayla, prominently on the front page:

Across the border in New Hampshire, they appear to be under the misimpression that President Obama was on the ballot yesterday:

Meanwhile, some folks apparently didn’t get the memo that it’s THE PEOPLE’S SEAT:

The other New York tabloids also lead with Massachusetts news…

…as does a D.C. tabloid:

Oh, the puns, THE PUNS! MAKE THEM STOP!!!

Here’s how the staid NYT and WSJ played it:

In South Bend, a clever headline-writer discovered that the word “ire” is shorter than the word “anger”:

Out west, Senator-elect Brown had to compete with Mother Nature for top billing:

Last but not least, Tampa Bay has bigger concerns than some stupid Massachusetts election. Such as… BABIES GETTING TATTOOS!!!! PANIC!!!!!

“The City”? Man, San Francisco Examiner people are really full of themselves.

TBT isn’t the real newspaper (or even the second real newspaper) for the Tampa Bay area, and people that read publications like that aren’t interested in politics.

San Fran has always referred to themselves as “The City”. Not sure why, but its a long time thing.

Just witness the old (and gorgeous) Golden State Warriors jerseys, which are gold, with blue writing. There is a stylized picture the Golden Gate Bridge, the number, and the words “The City” on the front of the jersey.

Brendan is probably missing the point of Drudge’s admittedly silly headline. It was likely meant as a swipe at Obama (a telegenic former state senator who ran for POTUS before finishing his first term in the Senate) rather than “hero-worship” IMO.

New Yorkers residing in Brooklyn, Queens, da Bronx & Staten Island often use the phrase “The City,” e.g., “I have to go in to The City tomorrow, damn it.” Their reference, of course, is to the Borough of Manhattan. ;|

Take a look at the Sun Journal’s headlines on that front page …

At the top left “Hilarity ensues …”

At the top right “God has abandoned us!”

Main headline “GOP wins Kennedy’s seat”

Then, centre-page, “Despite theft, meal will go on”

Seems like someone at the Sun Journal has either a good sense of humour or just didn’t notice (or possbily just didn’t care about) the juxtapositioning …

Now, the Wall Street Journal has

    “GOP Victory Upends Senate”

    with

“New Wave of Warlords Bedevils US”

I actually long for the days when Olbermann was a two-bit second rate local sportscaster who stole his best schtick from Fred Roggin.
