Unfortunately, they’ve been ordered to by the NCAA and, I’d imagine, repeated failures to adhere will be met by decreased access. There has to be a reason why people on TV can say “San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl” or “Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl” with a straight face.
But referring to the NCAA tournament’s play-in game as anything other than a “Play-In Game” patronizes and mocks the teams forced to play each other for the right to get slaughtered by a 1-seed.
