Found out today that Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly has a no-cause out in his contract to coach Notre Dame. Good Irish Catholic fellow, apparently he’s another one of these “lifelong dream to coach Notre Dame” guys.
As if that is not enough, apparently Kelly is legendary for his efforts in the community, tirelessly pressing the flesh, networking with alumni, etc. Not that there are all that many at Cincinnati, but Kelly apparently is great at it.
This guy could be an ideal fit at Notre Dame. At 48, he could coach that team for a very successful decade or two. Time for the administration to make it happen.
