Why the support for Mitt Romney (R)? I was an Obama voter in 2008. While I was not a huge supporter of his, I found his social-issue policies better than the Republicans', and I was tired of 8 years of Bush-bashing. I thought the economy would likely take care of itself. Although I disagreed with his economic policies, I was willing to give them a try. I'm disappointed with his approach and his results with respect to the economy, and I don't find his social policies as small-government as I'd like. Mostly, though, I'm tired of being called a racist by Obama supporters merely because I disagree with the president's policies--it may not be Obama's fault, but I find it cowardly of him to constantly hide behind his race to avoid criticism.

Anything else? This election will largely depend on turnout. I hate saying that the polls are wrong because I got burned by that thought process in 2008, but it seems that there are two divergent strains of polls: those that follow a 2008 turnout model (e.g., National Journal, PPP(D), etc.) and those that claim Republican turnout will be significantly up (e.g., Gallup, Rasmussen, Mason Dixon). I tend to side with the latter.

Anything else? I submit this map not because I think it is the most likely outcome, but because I think the most likely outcomes are more likely to be picked by multiple people who will then fight it out over tiebreakers. So here's a wave of momentum in the rust belt sending Romney to a landslide. PA shocks everyone early in the evening and we go to bed knowing the winner overall, even though we don't know until the morning that PA is officially in Romney's column. But after the winner is decided, we find that Obama won Nevada with a wider margin than Romney won PA and we get to ponder what it means for Nevada politics for a while.
