Fight on, Trojans!!! Beat the Cornhuskers!!!
UPDATE: Another presumably season-ending injury for the Trojans, as senior fullback Ryan Powdrell twists his leg the wrong way in a highly disgusting fashion, and has to get carted off the field. In a classy move, one of the Nebraska fans gave him a pat on the shoulder on the way out, and the Husker fans cheered for him. Sucks to have your career (in all likelihood) end that way.
On a more practical note, if the Trojans keep suffering injuries at this rate, they won’t have enough players left to field a team by season’s end! Powdrell had been moved from linebacker to fullback to replace Brandon Hancock, who was lost to injury last month! Jeez!
UPDATE 2: The early report is a dislocated ankle.
In other news, by the sound of things, there are a lot of Nebraska fans at the Coliseum! Those Big 12 schools always seem to travel well, at least when they play at USC. I remember being distinctly embarrassed at how many Kansas State fans there were at the 2001 game. They were louder at times than the home crowd. That’s not the case this time, but they are pretty damn loud when Nebraska makes a good play.

OMG! Did you see what happened to the fullback’s LEG! Holy shit!

Dislocated ankle…starting at the knee. That was one f-d up injury. They are acting like they will just pull the foot and put everything back into place. I don’t think this guy is going to be playing anymore after this injury. OUCH!

Even when USC fumbles it gets the First Down. WTF? Awesome!

That was gross! Reminded me of Joe Theissman…eeiyoooo I hope that it is something that will heal well for him..

Yeah. It looked similar to Theisman, who had a spiral fracture in the lower leg. The FB injury looked like the foot pulled out of the ankle socket with possible knee damage. I guess if it is only soft tissue damage he could recover, but it’s hard to imagine given how bad the injury looked.

Nebraska always travels well and if I recall during a game in South Bend a few years ago that stadium looked like it was Lincoln Nebraska

Yes, actually, come to think of it, I’ve heard several Domers talk about that 2000 game, and how they were embarrassed by the way the Nebraska fans pretty much painted Notre Dame Stadium red… much the same way the Kansas State fans painted the Coliseum purple in 2001.

Hehe - I remember that Kansas State game. My best friend came up for it so she could get some of the REAL college experience they didn’t have at SDSU. Not knowing any better, she drove up in her favorite purple shirt. Poor thing apologized all the way into the coliseum and was saved from wearing a sweatshirt the whole game because we caught one of those free t’s they launched before the game. Good stuff =0)

callahan is not trying to win this game but keep it from becoming a blow out and it is playing right into SC hands

CONGRATS SC backers on a great, clean played game…we still have aways to go before we are back to the old NU

I almost hurled when I saw Powdrell’s foot sticking out sideways…I’m very sensitive to seeing leg injuries since I tore my ACL.
‘SC looked pretty solid. Nebraska should win the Big 12 North, no problem. Next year, with Sam Keller and at Lincoln…that will be really hard.
Oh, and how about Oregon-Oklahoma!
Holy crap!
My wife (a Duck fan) is pissed at me because we shut off the TV and left the house after Oregon threw a pick with 4 minutes left, down 13.
We listened to the Ducks score a TD, recover the onside kick, score another TD to take the lead, and eventually block the potential game-winning FG as time expired. She was screaming at the car radio and more than a little ticked at me…

Callahan’s play-calling made no sense to me. Yeah it’s important to establish the run against USC and keep the defensive line from teeing off on the QB, but what’s the point if you never mix up the plays and throw a pass in between? Nebraska became so one-dimensional, the game became very boring to watch and USC was never threatened.

From my seats, I couldn’t see the injury, but we could tell it was bad the way the NEBRASKA trainers sprinted over to give assistance immediately.
