I’ve been waiting for more than seven months to blog this video… and now it’s finally here! Enjoy, fellow Trojans… cringe, fellow Domers… it’s the introduction at Becky’s and my wedding reception, with some very familiar music playing in the background:
You have to remember, we got married five days before the Rose Bowl, so in addition to being very excited about getting married, we were also very pumped about our Trojans. :) Plus, there were a number of Domers in attendance, so we had to rub it in their faces just a little bit… hehe. (Actually, one of my very few regrets about the wedding is that Chris and Nick missed the intro. Their flight was delayed, so they didn’t arrive until later. I really wanted to see their reactions when “Tribute to Troy” started playing, and whether they would have been able to bring themselves to cheer for the bride & groom in spite of the music. Heh. Oh, well.) We did have the DJ play the Victory March during dinner, so there was something for Domers to cheer about, too. Hey, it was an Irish Trojan wedding, what do you expect? :)
Anyway, it’s barely audible in the video because we weren’t mic’d up, but if you listen closely (or just read our lips), you’ll notice that Becky and I both yelled “BEAT THE LONGHORNS!!!” at the appropriate moment in “Conquest” — which happened to be the exact moment that we were being introduced. Perfect timing! Alas, the whole beating-the-Longhorns thing didn’t go quite so perfectly. But thankfully, our first seven-plus months of married life are going a lot better than that game went!
Incidentally, if you’re wondering, the long delay in getting our wedding video from the videographer is primarily my fault, not his… but that’s a long story and not worth getting into here. What matters is, the video is finally done, and a full online streaming version will be available soon. Until then, stay tuned, because I will probably blog a few more highlights in the coming days and weeks.

Props for the kind of entrance that more weddings need. Extra props for giving musical recognition to the ND side as well…
Did you also have the DJ play something by Howard Shore?

Nothing by Howard Shore, but he did play the “Hogwarts March” by John Williams. :)

I expected something a bit more highbrow from a future barrister and his wealthy sidekick.
