Fellow men, do your patriotic duty and help this guy earn a threesome! (SFW; hat tip: Chris.)
UPDATE: He’s well past the 2 million mark now, but it’s almost certainly because of scripts and bots and such. No way is he really getting 55 hits per second. Not even a link from Drudge or Slashdot (or both simultaneously!) will give you that much traffic.
More interesting is the speculation that the whole thing is a conspiracy (or, more to the point, a viral campaign for something calls letsmeetup.info — NSFW).

According to the counter at the bottom of his page he has already reached his target of 2,000,000 (counter reads 2,261,327). I wonder if she paid up.
April 27th, 2006 at 11:12:14 pm
According to Chris, the counter has been increasing at an absurd rate today… I think maybe somebody is using a bot or something.
April 27th, 2006 at 11:29:52 pm
using my unscientific counting in my head method…is jumping about 300 hits every 3 seconds. I would have to agree with B Loy. Even so…for his sake, I hope she doesn’t realize it.
April 27th, 2006 at 11:39:21 pm
Yeah… granted he’s gotten a lot of blog links today, but 100 hits per second? That’s almost a million per day. The only site I can think of that could produce that kind of traffic is Drudge, and he’s not linking to them. I mean, if legit, his current traffic is something like 250 times my Katrina traffic at its peak… I find that hard to believe.
April 27th, 2006 at 11:44:44 pm
Correction: 100 hits per second would be almost 10 million per day. (Well, 8.6 million.)
More data:
As of 8:10 PM, it was at 1,680,203.
Now, at 11:40 PM, it’s at 2,375,976.
That’s 695,773 hits in 3 hours and 30 minutes… or 3,313 hits per minute… or 55 per second. That’s heavier traffic than a Drudge link will produce. No way can that be real.
April 27th, 2006 at 11:53:36 pm
For example:
Back in September, when Drudge was using The Storm Track as his primary hurricane link site, they got 720,000 hits in a month… about as many as this guy supposedly got since 8:10 PM tonight.
Back in December 2004, when eventual Storm Track founder Jordan Golson’s tsunami videos got linked by Drudge and send all over the Internet like wildfire, he got 140,000 hits in a day. That was a truly seminal event in terms of blog traffic craziness, and yet it’s a mere 3% of the supposed current pace of this threesome guy.
So, yeah, definitely not buying it. :)

I wonder if part of their “ultra-binding contract” was that the hits had to be unique, otherwise she is in trouble.
April 28th, 2006 at 5:50:26 am
3,670,442 @ 5:49AM; I sent this to all of my trading buddies in London. Just trying to help another brotha out.
April 28th, 2006 at 9:18:08 am
Somebody help this idiot!
April 28th, 2006 at 9:32:32 am
Bot? oh, please, nothing that sophisticated. A little perl, a little wget, and a fast connection:
my $count=0;
until (0) {
`wget -nc http://www.helpwinthisbet.com/`;
$count++;
print “$count\n”;
}
Not nearly enough smarts to qualify as a bot. The hit counter will be flying thru 4,000,000 momentarily…

This chick has no idea what she has just done to herself.
April 28th, 2006 at 10:45:09 am
I got distracted…whoops…the final count when I killed my script: 811,530.
I hope she likes tuna…

“I hope she likes tuna…”
Who doesn’t? LOL
April 28th, 2006 at 12:30:52 pm
Total BS. The only place you could find a classy girl willing to put her picture up for this kind of bet would be facebook. Lets start caring about more important things - like a kid dying of a rare disease who wants to be in the guiness book of world records for most emails sent (the disease apparently relates to sanity) or the Namibian prince-in-exile who has a billion dollars in a bank somewhere who needs our help to get it out.

“That was a truly seminal event…”
Yes well as Melanie Down Under :) notes Up Above [hi Melanie :], if that Contract doesn’t Nail down what the Definition of “Hit” Be :) then there’s gonna be Another one. ;> So how come Mister Threebie’s link to da contrack don’t Work? / Frauuud. See it DID require Unique hits & now the weasel is Amending it after its Execution. :> Which may lead to His in the morning. :)
“…menage a trois (that’s a threesome to you non french-speakers)”
And here I always thought it was just something about boi from troi’s boss. ;>
“…I’ll post updates about my girlfriend’s reaction and a picture of the third girl once I find one.”
That’s menage a Quatre. Don’t get so Greedy, it ain’t in da Contrack. :} Also think of your Heart fer gawd’s sake. ;]

this is ridiculous…totally absurd. i don’t think this could be a real effort on anyone’s behalf — i’m starting to think its a viral campaign for some sexed up company. Fleshbot? or… more likely, Rellatio.com(pr agency with sex edge)

“I hope she likes tuna…
Who doesn’t? LOL
I dunno…the idea of sushi doesn’t do a lot for me…but YMMV.

Fleshbot? or… more likely, Rellatio.com
Most likely, neither. fleshbot.com is registered thru Network Solutions with an administrative contact in Hungary. rellatio.com is registered thru GoDaddy, and the admin contact is with Domain by Proxy.
helpwinthisbet.com is registered by Meter Systems in Scottsdale, AZ, and the admin contact is a Kevin Hanson. More interesting is that their name servers are provided by letsmeetup.info, who just happens to use Kevin Hanson as their contact. Google shows that letsmeetup.info provides “Free live video chat”.
Uh huh.
I think you’re right, in so far as things ain’t what they appear to be. Those with connections in Scottsdale (hint, hint) might be able to glean some more information.

IRA DARTH…
I made that call to scottsdale, and its pretty interesting. The message on their machine says they are out of the office or on the other line, BUT if you are calling in regards to the helpmewinthisbet site, don’t bother, they know nothing.
Weird…
