Speaking of FUBARed bowling scoring… I just received an unwelcome bombshell from the SBA via e-mail:
I just found out that the person in charge of bringing the league play sheet forgot to bring it to Beacon Bowl last night. Thus, competitive league play will begin next week.
So, let me get this straight. I bowl my best score ever, improbably finish in the Top 4 on my team, meaning that my score would have counted… and it’s not going to count? Bah!!

Hints for better Bowling
When standing in front of the lane, make sure your shoulders are lined up straight with the lane. Keep this alignment throughout the throw.
Never look at the pins, look at the arrows on the lane and keep your eye on the arrow where you want the ball to roll over.
When releasing the ball make sure your arm is held straight and that at the end of the throw your thumb
lines up with the arrow on the lane you were aiming for.
Take your time, do not rush the throw.
Make sure you are squared to the lane and hold the ball with you thumb facinging your chin for at least 3 seconds befor taking your thow.

Brendan’s problem is he gets so off balance when he releases the ball, he looks like he’s about to fall over. He needs to learn how to kick his throwing-side leg back and underneath the leg where all his weight is during his release. But that should come more naturally if he follows your advice above. Basically he needs to clean up his approach, and then he can focus on learning to aim.
