Early this morning, my SiteMeter counter registered its 1 millionth unique hit. Sweet!
I’ve been using SiteMeter since July 11, 2003. I got 63 hits that day, and a total of 704 hits in the week that followed. By way of comparison, I got 702 hits between 6:00 and 7:00 PM yesterday. :) I had 10,444 hits yesterday, and 6,636 so far today.
July 11, 2003, the day I installed my counter, wasn’t otherwise a particularly significant date in BrendanLoy.com history. (I started blogging in April 2002.) Still, it’s cool to be able to say “I’ve gotten a million hits,” even if it is “a million hits since some random date.” :)
Congrats on the millionth hit. Like you, I really wish it were easy to tell if that meant that a million people had visited the site, but with all the proxies and multiple wireless IPs out there, it’s pretty darned hard to do.
But a million hits is a million hits, so keep up the good work.
On another note, I see you still have up this warning:

Do you have an idea when this site will be pulled out of limbo?
I wish, Javier. Unfortunately, my attempts to get into a more stable blog environment have been foiled because of various problems. Right now, I’m waiting for a server upgrade that should come soon … hopefully after that occurs, I’ll be able to use WordPress without it taking 15 seconds to load the homepage.
I dunno David, I didn’t notice that I had topped a million until I was already several thousand hits past the landmark hit, and SiteMeter only saves the info for the last 1,000 hits, so I can’t go back and check. :(
