Website back, but may go down again
Posted by on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 12:37 pm

IMPORTANT: Please bookmark the following two sites:

http://66.237.232.84/
and
http://www.nd.edu/~bloy/

It looks like I’ve come to the end of the road with Total Choice Hosting. They have no dedicated servers available, and they’re kicking me off the shared server due to unmanagably high traffic. I’m temporarily unsuspended, but may get suspended again at any moment, so please bookmark the above sites, and if this site goes offline again, check them for updates.

    Heh. You ROCKED their world.

I guess they would prefer to have sites no one visits. Oh, well.

  2. callmemickey Says:

heaven forbid you make them work for the money you pay them to host the site!!

  3. Brendan Says:

Yes. Oh, believe me, I will have plenty to say to, and about, the way TCH has handled this, once the dust settles. Typically, I have found them to be quite helpful… not this time, oh no, not at all.

  4. Coach Leahy Says:

You looked great last night, Opie. I couldn’t believe both you and Tucker were allowed to stay up that late on a school night!

On another note, this scene was overheard in Loy’s shower today.

-We hates the filthy Total Choices’s!

No, we loves them! They cares about us, they’ve been nice to us.

-The fat one will kill us! noooooo!

  5. Reverend Asshat Says:

I think it’s the man trying to keep you down. Censorship at its most devious.

  6. Angrier and Angrier Says:

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear Total Choice was a part of FEMA.

  7. Patrick Says:

Posted this on the other site, but wanted to be sure you saw it. Check out 15minuteservers.com - I’ve had a dedicated server there for over a year with no big problems. Lots of storage, fairly generous bandwidth and root access at a reasonable price.

    Keep up the good work!

  8. Ironman Says:

While you were up perhaps you did achieve some results. See Michael Barone’s blog

“In effect though not in name, if my reading is right, Michael Brown has been fired.”

  9. mrlawson Says:

brendan: you might want to checkout the hosting company 1 and 1 www.1and1.com.

Supposely the largest and best hosting company out there.

  10. Patrick Says:

Check out the dedicated server forum at webhostingtalk.com - every provider gets some complaints, but 1and1.com seemed to have more than their share(IMO).

Do your research, but I’m a happy customer of NAC(15minuteservers).

  11. Coach Leahy Says:

    Brendan,

Who’s that sleddog in the michigan t-shirt with her arm around you?

  12. Danny Says:

Brendan, I have a great hosting company that would get you a server setup asap. if your interested let me know and I’ll get you the info.

    Great blog BTW :)

    Danny

  13. Wendy Says:

Check out www.gowebservers.com - a friend of mine has been with them for about three years with no problems. If she needs a bandwidth upgrade, she gets it. If she needs more space, she gets it. If the price has become uncompetitive, they reduce it to match what she could get elsewhere. Talk to Riz - and he’s generally available to his clients on IM software.

And while I’m here… great blog.

  14. Wendy Says:

PS - can’t find an email for you, but if you email me at the address I logged I will give you my friend’s name - she’s one of gowebserver’s biggest clients and is happy to be used as a recommendation.

  15. David Says:

back up back up site? is that like double half staffing the flag ;-)

i found a site awhile back that had info on various hosting sites, uptime, service ratings, etc, i’ll see if I can track it down again.

I do have one recommendation however, and thats a small orange. haven’t used them myself but they are a fan favorite on a message board i frequent.

  16. Tresho Says:

Put this notice at the top of your page in bright colors and bold typeface

  17. bronco Says:

Keep buckin’ ‘em Brendan. Let’s hear at least one American who knows how to think and doesn’t wear a red tie to get through the censorship.
