This isn’t over yet, I am going to have my lawyers looking into a recount.

Guess I’ll have to try making it through Million Dollar Baby again… but the copies here in China are pretty low quality.

I can’t believe Brendan beat me… that darn Academy, how long must Marty suffer!!! :)
February 28th, 2005 at 12:10:28 am
I’m just amazed I beat, well, anyone. Random choice among movies I’ve not seen doesn’t seem to have fared as poorly as possible…

that darn Academy, how long must Marty suffer!!!
I know! I picked him too! In fact, if I had just picked Eastwood — i.e., if I had followed the conventional wisdom I was reading and hearing on TV, instead of going with my heart over my head — I would have WON THE POOL!!! Ack!!
Anyway, I was totally rooting for you… I was pulling for Aviator to win Best Picture, even though I picked Million Dollar Baby, because I wanted you to win the pool! Alas.

Well, Brendan, I was rooting for me too! But hey, what can you do? I’ll get you next year! :)
February 28th, 2005 at 2:23:59 am
Hehe. :) I should clarify… I only started rooting for you after it become impossible for ME to win. :) I was, of course, rooting for myself initially. But when I realized it came down to you vs. Jackie Domaingue, who I don’t even know, I decided it was more important to root for you than to hope for a few extra points. Oh, well. :)

Did you want him to win because he was the best director THIS year or because of his past work?
Its all well and good to say that he should have won in the past but from everything I have heard Clint just did a better job this time around.
There is nothing that bothers me more than when they give awards to people out of politics or sentimentality rather than who actually deserves it.

Wow . . .7th . . . That was a surprise!

When will people realize Scorsese is not an outstanding director? Only outstanding directors win Oscars. For direction. Mr. Marty’s films were good for a variety of reasons, but not direction. If he deserves an Oscar, than so do I.
PS- I appreciate your rooting against the Domaingues, Brendan! REAL nice! lol

I know this is off topic, but can I ask if anyone else was really offended by the “new format” of the show, that is the new Miss America style having people line up on stage or bringing awards to their seats??? I think it’s ridiculous, but I’m curious to know if I’m the only one.

LOL Kristy… well that was before I realized I knew who she was… haha. :)
Vicki, I can’t say I was “offended” by it, but I did think it was rather stupid.
