Serfass to play for Mets farm team
Posted by on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 5:40 am

Newington High School Class of 1999 grad Joe Serfass has signed with the New York Mets organization, and will be playing for their Rookie League team, the St. Lucie Mets. He departs Connecticut for Florida today. His goal, of course, is to eventually make it to the big-leagues. Way to go, Joe! And good luck!

The St Lucie Mets are actually the high A ball affiliate for the Mets. The Kingsport Mets (in Tennessee) are the Mets rookie short season team. Their season just started yesterday (an 11-1 victory), so Joe doesn’t have much catching up to do. Good luck to Joe. Hope we see him at Big Shea in a few years.
